After we moved to Heron Point in 2006, we came to realize that the community had so much more to offer us than we had anticipated. We had done our homework well as we shopped for a CCRC that was accredited, a non-profit, not too large, and not far from our children and grandchildren. We were drawn to Chestertown with its colonial river front atmosphere, its college opportunities and friendly residents. Also important to us was its proximity to the metropolitan areas of DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New York City, plus the international airports that each of the cities provide. On a personal level, Kent had to have a lap pool of at least 25 yards that he found at Washington College and Carol wanted to continue her Yoga classes. After unpacking the boxes and hooking up the computers and TVs, we began to get involved in the life of Heron Point and other local activities. We found that our fellow residents were of many backgrounds and experiences and welcomed us into their midst wholeheartedly. Within months we began to understand the extra measure of friendship and camaraderie that the Heron Point community offers its residents. It was a revelation in so many ways.
