Medical support
We have doctors with regular hours on premises and nursing staff available around the clock. These professionals provide medical services for chronic illness in our health center. When residents require special attention for shorter term needs, such as surgical recovery, they receive nursing and rehabilitation services in our health center and return to their residence following recovery. Physical therapy is also available on-site as needed. Residents may elect to choose a different doctor as primary physician if they wish. An electronic medical alert system provides for immediate contact with the nurse on duty in the event of a medical emergency. This system operates both through a resident's phone and through a portable pendant. Ongoing health and wellness A primary goal of the Heron Point staff is to ensure that we maintain our independent living style as long as possible. This effort includes both group activities and individual support through our fitness center. For more information, click on Fitness on the menu on the left. Heron Point also encourages and supports wellness by offering presentations on a wide range of health subjects as well as ongoing activities intended to prevent injury and encourage healthful living. The Chester River Hospital is four blocks away from our entrance and is affiliated with the University of Maryland Medical System. Physicians in most specialties are located in Chestertown and the surrounding area. |

As a continuing care community, Heron Point provides services for assisted living, skilled nursing, and dementia care. Our staff supports all residents' ongoing health and wellness and provides rehabilitation assistance when needed.
